What is YouView?

YouView Basics

YouView offers 70 channels of live TV from Freeview (including 4 HD channels), plus loads of TV shows, series and films on-demand over Broadband.

YouView is a joint venture between the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, BT, TalkTalk and Arqiva

 

What does YouView offer?

On-Demand: Access to over 5,000 TV shows and movies, whenever you want them

ScrollBack: Look back through seven days of TV shows, and get access to catch-up content from the BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Channel 4’s 4oD and Demand 5.

Search: With so many live, recorded, catch-up and on-demand shows available, a good search is needed, and it’s part of YouView. Search by show name, film, actor or keyword.

HD Channels: Subscription free high-definition channels on offer are BBC One HD, BBC HD, ITV1 HD and Channel 4 HD (STV HD in Scotland, and Clirlun in Wales)

Record, Pause & Rewind TV: Take control of watching the 70 Freeview channels. You can record two different Freeview channels, whilst watching on-demand content. The first box on the market, the Humax DTR-T1000 can record  up to 300 hours of TV.

    Can a SKY Wireless Connector be used with an EE Router to supply a BT You View box/ I have tried but will not connect. Works well with a long wire. Can you help please?

    youview needs to explain in a simple easy to understand manner how it works – at the moment anything out there just leaves one totally confused – another example of a possibly useful feature that is going to waste because no-one, apart from those who work for youview, understand how it works
